THE STUDY GUIDE

This Guide assists you as you progress through the Studies, and discusses many of the points of practice, breaking down different techniques in a clear step-by-step manner, offering written examples of practice exercises for shifting, bowing, intonation, trills and all aspects of the 42 Kreutzer Studies. The Guide allows you to investigate the technique behind the music, from the most basic to advanced violin technique.

THE SCORE

The Kreutzer 42 Studies Stringology Edition Score is fully edited by Jacques Israelievitch to reflect his performance. His interpretation of the Studies as performance pieces remains true to their originally intended style and purpose as études.
All Studies are scored across no more than two pages, giving you the ability to read through the Studies without worrying about having to turn pages while practising.

Also, unlike other publications, this volume is wire-o bound, which means that the books easily lies flat on your stand without hassle. Also, bar numbers are included in the score – something which, surprisingly, no other edition includes.

REVIEWS

"This fresh edition of the Kreutzer studies provides a thorough, creative and engaging approach to one of the cornerstones of string-playing pedagogy. [The] introduction . . . gives a clear and thoughtful outline of the fundamental aspects of playing that the studies explore, as well as emphasising the importance of approaching them in a musical way and encouraging active problem-solving on the part of the pupil . . . [It includes] a detailed chart, which is useful in pinpointing the various aspects of playing that can be the focus of each study.

"The book's spacious layout addresses a frequent problem of older editions by providing the teacher with ample room to write explanatory notes and additional or alternative exercises.

". . . a useful resource for students . . . and this edition is excellent for teachers."

Nathaniel Vallois, The Strad (Oct. 2007)

"This stunning volume . . . is indispensable to every violinist, whether performer, teacher or student . . ."
